What Are Golden Teachers Mushrooms?
“Golden Teachers belong to a specific strain or variety within the Psilocybe cubensis species. While numerous variations of this mushroom species exist, Golden Teachers Mushrooms stand out as one of the more well-known strains.
To comprehend the difference between a species and a strain, it’s essential to note that a species represents a unique genetic lineage that typically cannot crossbreed with others. There are exceptions to this rule, such as the interbreeding of lions and tigers to produce ligers or horses and donkeys to create mules. However, as of now, we are not aware of any hybrids among distinct magic mushroom species.
Psilocybe cubensis is the most commonly cultivated magic mushroom species, and Psilocybe is the genus to which this species belongs. In biological taxonomy, the genus ranks above the species and contains multiple species within it, falling below the family level.
The family to which Psilocybe belongs is Hymenogastraceae. Because Psilocybe cubensis is a separate species from Psilocybe mexicana, natural crossbreeding between them is not possible.
Terms like “strain” and “variety” can be somewhat ambiguous, with scientists sometimes holding differing interpretations. Furthermore, mushroom vendors may introduce new strains without providing clear distinctions. Nevertheless, we can generally define strains as originating from the same species, and these strains can freely crossbreed.
For instance, it is feasible to crossbreed Penis Envy mushrooms and B+ mushrooms, both of which are strains of Psilocybe cubensis, resulting in the creation of the Tidalwave strain.
To establish a genuinely distinct strain, such as Golden Teachers, the mushrooms should consistently exhibit specific characteristics that can be replicated with each cultivation. The occurrence of peculiar-looking mushrooms in one instance does not necessarily signify the creation of a new strain.”

This is a really great product. First, the selection of mushrooms is excellent and includes a lot of exotic varieties, including the Wood Ear, that are not available to most Americans across this country. Secondly, the packaging is good because it is plastic, easily recyclable, and one can simply re-hydrate ALL the mushrooms in a single container and then use what one wants, save the rest in the refrigerator AND use the reserved liquid in some sort of other dish (I like to use it in a Ragu sauce with mushrooms to enhance the flavor).
